Life in the Pen

This 1950's phenomenon may be your saving grace at times...but is it "okay" for the kids or are we driving them into therapy later on?

Are playpens little prisons?

Awful!

Born in 1968, sister born in 1972—no play pens.

My own children born in the late 80’s and early 90’s—one pen that became a large trash can when left at grandma’s while I worked.

My kids had them for nap times or carry alongs. If I was cleaning and wanted to make sure they stayed safe or were constantly underfoot; they would go in their playpen with some toys until I got done. It didn’t hurt them to play by themselves for 1/2 hour. Besides it teaches them some indepenence and how to passify themselves.

I put my son in his playpen when I’m busy with stuff around the house. I also put him in when he’s tired. I don’t think it’s damaging him at all…

its a tie between the both!!! i think leaving them in there to long is hard on them, but having it when you are very busy and cant keep a steady eye on them its great!!
